Communications & Marketing Officer: WWF Nedbank Green Trust
Permanent position reporting to the WWF Nedbank Green Trust Manager but will sit in the WWF SA Strategic Communications team.
The WWF Nedbank Green Trust is a Trust that was initiated by the Trustees, Nedbank and WWF in 1991 in order to promote the conservation of nature and ecological processes through the preservation of genetic, species and ecosystem diversity, through ensuring that the use of renewable natural resources is sustainable, and through the promotion of actions aimed at reducing to a minimum pollution and the wasteful exploitation and consumption of resources and energy. In its 22 year history, the WWF Nedbank Green Trust has invested more R 100 million in various catalytic conservation projects which have grown to a scale that has had a phenomenal impact in the conservation sector of South Africa.
Purpose
WWF seeks to employ an all-rounder marketing communications resource to be the Communications and Marketing officer for the WWF Nedbank Green Trust. The Communications and Marketing Officer is responsible for the communication (65%) and marketing (35%) for the WWF Nedbank Green Trust. The position will report to the WWF Green Trust Manager and will report to the WWF Nedbank Green Trust Management Committee when it convenes. The officer will report on period progress through the 6 weekly Green Trust meeting between WWF and Nedbank. The position will be employed by WWF funded by the WWF Nedbank Green Trust.
Responsibilities
- Compile and implement an annual communication and marketing plan.
- Proactively identifying new opportunities:
- to build the Green Trust / Nedbank/WWF profile in the NGO and corporate and general public space through key messaging or content stories.
- to promote the Nedbank Green Affinity products in the conservation sector or South Africa.
- Launching and profiling all key projects of the trust:
- Once projects have been approved by the management committee the person will ensure that the new projects are either launched or at least profiled, to ensure that the current projects are profiled regularly and finally to ensure closed or projects to be closed are profiled through leveraging key learnings, achievements, and any interesting research findings.
- Coordinate the relationship for communication and marketing of the trust with Nedbank Cause Marketing and Group Communication and WWF Communications and Marketing teams.
- Implement and manage:
- the CI of the WWF Nedbank Green Trust.
- key communication and marketing channels of trust e.g. Internet, e-newsletters, social media, project videos, etc.
- communication of the trust to the trustees.
- Proactively leveraging from three Nedbank and WWF partnerships and co-ordinating the communications and marketing in a manner that tells an integrated story.
Specifications
- Relevant Marketing and/or Communications qualification.
- Min 3 years’ experience in the Marketing communications field with some events planning and implementation experience.
- Target audience segmentation understanding
- Content writing, editing, events planning and implementation, media production, media liaison, social media knowledge and understanding
- Verbal and written proficiency in English.
- Verbal and written proficiency in any further languages will be an advantage.
- Passion for communication and marketing in the environmental sector
- Ability to multi-task and work under pressure
- Able to work in multi- disciplinary teams
- Team leadership skills
